The Skagit County Developmental Disabilities Program works with local and state agencies to connect people with developmental disabilities and their families to services, resources, and opportunities that support greater independence and participation in the community.
Community Agencies
Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA)
The Washington State Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) empowers people with developmental disabilities to live the lives they want. DDA determines eligibility for developmental disability services and coordinates supports for eligible individuals at any age.
The Skagit County Developmental Disabilities Program is primarily funded by DDA to provide services in our community.
Parent to Parent of Skagit County
Parent to Parent of Skagit County provides emotional support, information, educational opportunities, workshops, and social connections for families of children with special health or developmental needs. The organization receives funding from Skagit County, along with other sources, to provide services to families in our community.
Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR)
The Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) helps people with disabilities prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment. Services may include employment skills training, job support, assistive technology, and other resources to help reduce barriers to meaningful work.
School districts are a primary source of support, services, and resources for students with developmental disabilities ages 3–22.
The Skagit County Developmental Disabilities Program works with local schools to connect students and families with community agencies and resources, provide training, and coordinate transition services through the Bridges Program for students preparing for life after high school.
Events
The Skagit County Developmental Disabilities Program provides annual workshops on a variety of topics for our community including an Introduction to the Bridges Program, Guardianship and Alternatives, Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) Services, Individualized Education Program (IEPs) and Evaluations, Social Security and Benefits, and much more.

Developmental Disabilities Resource Fair
Skagit County Developmental Disabilities Program offers an annual Resource Fair to provide the opportunity for our community to connect with agencies who provide services for individuals of all ages who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Provided by the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council, Informing Families offers trusted information and resources to help individuals and families plan for the future and build networks of support and opportunity. Information is available in multiple languages and can be filtered by age.
The Arc of Washington advocates for people with developmental disabilities and their families and provides information about services and supports, including early intervention, special education, employment, housing, health care, transportation, respite and community inclusion. Although Skagit County does not have a local Arc chapter, the statewide organization offers trainings, events and resources for families
PAVE provides information, training and support to individuals, youth and families impacted by disabilities. Resources include information about IEPs, 504 plans and other educational supports, as well as tools to help families advocate for inclusive school environments.
