Planning and Development Services | Natural Resources and Shorelines

Skagit County Planning and Development Services is tasked with reviewing land use and development permit applications for compliance with Skagit County's Critical Areas Ordinance and Shoreline Master Program. Protection and management of these areas is important to the preservation of ecological functions and values of our natural environment, as well as the protection of the public health, safety, and welfare of our community.

Under rules adopted by the Department of Ecology, new exempt wells for single-family residences are now limited in most stream basins throughout Skagit County.
