SCC 9.08 - Outdoor Events Code Rewrite
Planning and Development Services
Skagit County Planning and Development Services seeks to rewrite SCC 9.08, which regulates one time outdoor public musical entertainments, amusements, and assemblies attracting 100 or more people. This chapter is Skagit County Code was originally adopted in 1970 and has not been updated since.
The proposed code would repeal and replace the chapter to create a modern regulatory framework. The proposed amendments overhaul the chapter to
- Define events and establish thresholds
- Shift application processing from the Board of County Commissioners office to Planning and Development Services
- Specify application submittal requirements and procedures
- Enhance public safety provisions
- Improve enforceability and provide references to other applicable Skagit County code titles
- Add grounds for denial
