The Victim Witness Division provides information, vital support, and advocacy to you if you are a victim or witness of a crime in Skagit County. The division has three full-time advocates and one part-time advocate. They work with prosecutors, law enforcement, and other agencies to help you move through the legal process.
Advocates are available to help you navigate the criminal justice system. They work to make sure that all crime victims are treated in line with the Washington State Constitution and the Crime Victims’ Bill of Rights. Advocates try to stay in contact with you about the legal process in a criminal case. They can also help you apply for Crime Victim’s Compensation, a state program that may pay for physical or mental injuries that result from a crime.
The Victim Witness Unit works to connect you with available resources within the community while providing ongoing support if you are involved in the criminal justice system as a victim or witness.
