Annual Legislative Agenda
Board of County Commissioners
Each year in the fall, the County Commissioners set the County's annual legislative agenda. The agenda includes capital requests and policy positions they plan to advocate for during the upcoming legislative session.
The County Commissioners have contracted with Columbia Policy Advisors to support the County's legislative priorities with our state delegation.
2026 Legislative Priorities
Skagit County was very successful with its' 2026 state funding requests, receiving over $3.3M for projects benefiting our community. Below is a summary of our requests and the funding we received from the state.

| Regional Public Safety Campus | $285,000 to support the feasibility study for a new consolidated campus for public safety agency training and collaboration. | $294,000 |
| 5th Superior Court Judge | Legislative approval for a fifth Superior Court judge and appropriation of resources for the State's portion of the position. | State approved a 5th judge and provided financial support. |
| Lorenzen Creek Culvert | $3.8M in construction funding to support restoring fish passage in a section downstream of a WSDOT crossing completed in 2023. | $1M |
| Morgue Generator | $200,000 to purchase a three-phase generator for the County Coroner's facility. | $206,000 |
| Lila Lane Transitional Housing | $1M to support conversion of the subacute detox facility at Lila Lane into short-term recovery housing. | $258,000 |
In addition to the above priorities, Skagit County advocated for the Recovery Cafe's request for $2M to support purchasing the Mount Vernon cafe facility. This request was successful as well, with $2M allocated to Recovery Cafe.
