Fee Increase for Assignments, Appointments, Resignations, and Substitutions of Deeds of Trust
Effective July 27, 2025
Due to recent passage of HB 1858, the fee for recording assignments, appointments, resignations, and substitutions of previously recorded deeds of trust will go up. The fee for these documents will change from $18.00 to $301.00 for the first page. Additional page fees remain at $1.00. The exemption that previously applied to these documents has been rescinded, except for the Urban Planning Surcharge of $2.50.

Copies
Copies may be printed as unofficial documents from the website or as official documents from the Auditor's Office. To request official copies please contact the Recording division.

Internet Document Access Removal Form
Internet document access removal from the Skagit County website ONLY applies to recorded documents that include your: social security number, mother's maiden name, date of birth, and/or driver's license number.
In the State of Washington, county auditors are the custodians of records pursuant to RCW 65.04.140. As the recorder of official documents, the County Auditor's responsibility is limited to ensuring:
- The document is legible
- The document is correctly formatted
- The instrument contains the document title
- The indexing information is complete
- The appropriate fees are collected

Statutory fees are collected for services associated with recording official documents. Payment is required pursuant to RCW Chapter 36.18.010 and is accepted in the form of cash or check only.
