Filing for office in 2026
Candidate filing week is May 4 to May 8.
The last day to withdraw from office is Monday, May 11.
Skagit County will hold a special three-day filing period if no one files for a position during filing week.
The online filing button will be available starting May 4.
Note:
Candidates must provide an email address when filing.
All communication with candidates is done by email.
Candidate filing will open at 8 am on May 4 and close at 5 pm on May 8.
- Submit your filing before 5 pm on Friday. The filing office will not accept submissions after 5 pm.
- Do not use a mobile device to file.
- You can use a credit card to pay your filing fee.
- You must pay the filing fee before the filing office can process your submission.
- Allow 24 to 48 hours for candidacy approval. You will receive a confirmation email at your candidate email address.
File by mail
Candidates who will be out of the area during the filing period can file by mail beginning Monday April 20, 2026 and ending at 5 pm on the last day of the regular filing period. Filings received through the mail before or after the prescribed time, regardless of postmark, are invalid and will be returned.
