Facilities Management

Facilities Management works with elected officials, the County Administrator, the Budget and Finance Director, County department heads, and you to provide a clean, safe, and comfortable service-oriented environment at all County locations. The team focuses on extending the life of building equipment and components through proper care and preventive maintenance to reduce overall costs.

The department’s skills and goals include:

• Assessing the return on investment of capital improvement projects
• Building maintenance and custodial services
• Contracting services for skills that go beyond internal capabilities
• Improving how work is done and using industry technologies to gain efficiencies
• Leasing and property management
• Pursuing grant funding
• Putting in place sustainable practices that reduce cost and environmental impact
• Reviewing how utilities are used and checking for energy code compliance
• Working with the Skagit County Planning and Development Department to update the Capital Facilities Plan

The goal of Facilities Management is to provide and maintain facilities that meet County needs in line with the Capital Facilities Plan. The department also works to build community facility partnerships and pursue grant funding for major capital projects.
