Content Summary: This collection of photos was originally flown by the War Department in 1937. The original photos were taped together to make larger areas that were again photographed (This is the product available at Skagit County Public Works). The resultant photos were then scanned in 2003.
Content Purpose: A low resolution image of historical conditions of Skagit County populated areas.
Supplemental Information: The photos were scanned at 1600 dpi, and georectified with a first order polynomial using mostly street intersections as ground control. A significant amount of spatial distortion exists in the data, and analysis should be made with caution. The original photos are not currently at Skagit County , but may be at the USGS. The compilation photo set originals are at the Skagit County Public Works department, but distribution of hardcopy originals can be made by the USGS.
