Here at Skagit County Historical Museum, we have your students in mind. We create and facilitate events and programs that help enhance what students are learning in the classroom by providing you with relevant primary resources. We make changes based on visitor feedback and with the assistance of education professionals.

School Tours

Tour Reservation Form

OPTION 1: Join us for a two-hour guided tour of our Museum. The tour includes history of Skagit County: Native Americans, transportation, early industries, lost cities, and settler life. Our docents can tailor the tour to fit your grade level curriculum, or the special needs of your students. Tours are $3 per student, free for teachers and chaperones.

OPTION 2: Add on an additional hour to the OPTION 1 tour with a Coast Salish Presentation. Tours are $5 per student, free for teachers and chaperones. Museum Tours are available Monday – Wednesday between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm, by appointment only.

Skagit City School Experience

Tour Reservation Form

Share a fun filled day of Coast Salish and pioneer life workshops, games and crafts held at our renovated Skagit City School. Note: we book at least 4 weeks in advance to ensure available space, supplies and staff. Skagit City School Experiences are $5 per student, free for teachers and chaperones. Event generally lasts 4.5 hours including a sack lunch break (bring your own lunch).

7th Grade La Conner Now & Then Experience

Tour Reservation Form

This experience is geared to 7th grade students. Students rotate through 4 experiences: a tour of the Skagit County Historical Museum, a craft project at the Pioneer Park, a Coast Salish presentation at the cedar hats at the Welcoming Pavilion at swədəbš Park, and a walking tour of La Conner. Bring a sack lunch to enjoy at the Pioneer Park!  Note: we book at least 4 weeks in advance to ensure available space, supplies and staff.

The fee is $5 per student, free for teachers and chaperones. (Requires your own bus transportation between sites.)

Available Monday – Wednesday between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm, by appointment only.

Tour Scholarship Application

We are pleased to offer scholarship for Skagit County public schools for one event per school year per class. Choose between admission fees or transportation to/from the Museum.

History Trunks

History Trunks Reservation Form

We’re excited to loan you a trunk full of resources for you and your students to enjoy. Each one includes artifacts, teacher’s manuals, curriculum, craft ideas, and photos.  History trunks are a great teaching tool and can be reserved with or without a SCHM staff/volunteer presenter. They are also an excellent pre- or post-tour enhancement.
