The Investigations Bureau of the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office is comprised of the criminal investigations division, evidence unit, crime and intel analysis, high-tech unit, professional standards and accountability, and the interlocal drug enforcement unit.
Members of the Investigations Bureau are veteran law enforcement professionals with extensive experience and specialized training in complex criminal and administrative investigations that include major crimes, high tech, sex offense, special victims, arson, drug enforcement, internal affairs, and deadly force among other technical and complex investigative services.
Detectives are usually on duty and available for contact during Sheriff's Office business hours Monday through Friday.

Drug Task Force
The Skagit County Drug Task Force is a "vice" unit made up of law enforcement officers from a variety of law enforcement agencies including the Skagit County Sheriff's office. The Task Force is responsible for gathering intelligence on illegal narcotics activity within and in-transit through Skagit County and making arrests and seizures based on that intelligence.
The Drug Task Force works closely with federal and local agencies sharing and acting on information to shut down drug houses, intercept deliveries, and bring high-profile drug related criminals to justice within Skagit County.
Each member of the Drug Task Force has years of experience in law enforcement and has assembled a wide range of informants providing them with a constant flow of information to assist them with the never-ending war on drugs.

Evidence Unit
The Evidence Unit is responsible for the storage and custody of all evidence taken by the Sheriffs Office and the Drug Task Force. The Sheriff's Office is also the primary evidence storage facility for the Skagit Multi-Agency Response Team (SMART) that conducts independent investigations into officer involved deadly force incidents throughout the region.
Each year the unit logs an average of 4,500 pieces of evidence. On average there are approximately 20,000-30,000 items of evidence stored in relation to both active and cold cases.
The Evidence Unit is responsible for logging items in, tracking their location, arranging for items to be processed both in our own lab, and being transported to the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab, transporting items to court, and for releasing evidence back to its rightful owner.
The Evidence Unit is comprised of two full-time Evidence/Crime Scene Technician responsible for the intake, processing and custody of evidence, as well as assisting the Detectives with the processing of crime scenes.
Evidence Technicians are usually on duty and available for contact during Sheriff's Office business hours Monday through Friday.
