Skagit County Lifts Outdoor Burn Ban October 1st

Effective 8:00 am on October 1, 2026, and until further notice, residential yard and land-clearing fires are permitted again within unincorporated Skagit County.       

In unincorporated Skagit County, burn permits are required for piles larger than 4 feet by 4 feet. These permits can be obtained online through the Burn Permit Request and Permit System. 

Residential yard and land-clearing fires are restricted to natural vegetation, including leaves and tree trimmings. Garbage, household trash, lumber, construction waste, or demolition debris may not be burned.   

Please burn responsibly. Remember, smoke, odor, or ash that unreasonably interferes with the use and enjoyment of neighboring properties is prohibited.

Properties within incorporated cities or towns, or within urban growth areas, should contact their local fire department for any applicable burn restrictions.
